Meredith Rey's Journey
Cabaret and torch song vocalist with roots in Texas and a timeless style inspired by greats like Peggy Lee and Vera Lynn, now based in London England and stepping into a new chapter of performance.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I began my vocal training at age 11 and quickly found my comedic and melodic home in musical theatre. In 2020, I relocated to London England and embraced the opportunity to pursue my singing career more fully. My style draws deeply from the golden age of Torch songs, Broadway, and Cabaret. Whether reviving timeless standards or reimagining lesser-known gems, I bring storytelling, soul and sometimes a needed laugh to every performance.
Recently, I partnered with pianist, conductor, and vocalist Barry Potts to form the cabaret duo Torch & Tyne, celebrating the Great American Songbook alongside beloved British classics through elegant, theatrical performances. Together, we have appeared at the Royal Air Force Club and Burgh House, with additional performances currently in development.
I am also a Fellow of the London College of Music (FLCM) in Musical Theatre Performance. As part of my fellowship thesis, I created and performed a one-woman musical tribute exploring the stage career and musical legacy of Angela Lansbury. I am currently further curating and expanding the production for public performance later this summer.
